This line from Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac encapsulates the guiding principle of Nepenthe Press. We are dedicated to publishing high-quality works by independent authors who value artistic vision and integrity over marketability.
We also aim to provide an outlet for academics who wish to give free rein to their creative side or to discuss their ideas and interests in a non-academic setting.
Do you have a short work of fiction, essay, rant, or blog entry you would like to submit for consideration? We are not currently accepting manuscripts for publication, but we would be happy to consider hosting your short work on our guest blog.
At Nepenthe Press, it's always okay to publish under a nom de plume; we take our name from Homer's Odyssey, after all, whose silver-tongued hero Odysseus himself proves time and again that for a clever man, it's often best to remain anonymous. In accordance with the ancient Greek rules of hospitality, however, all contributors will be required to divulge their true identities to us, their host, at time of submission.
Composed of three symbola, culled from ancient Greek mystery cult and steeped in myth - a kantharos, a red poppy, and a narcissus - this logo says it all - that there's always a potent potion brewing at Nepenthe!
